Transport Law in the European Union (EUTransLaw) is a Jean Monnet Module, a project co-financed by the ERASMUS + Programme. The project will last for three academic years 2022-2025. At the heart of the EUTransLaw lies Transport Law in the EU course, which will be held at the Law Faculty of the Jagiellonian University in Poland.

European Union (EU) or/and its Member States (MS) are parties to numerous international agreements introducing uniform law on contract of carriage (of goods and passengers) from the unimodal perspective (sea, air, rail, road, and inland waters). Additionally, EU is implementing a strong passenger’s rights policy through regulations (for example, on flight cancellations). At the same time EU has unified – through regulations - private international law of its MS, namely rules on jurisdiction, applicable law and recognition and enforcement of judgments also with respect to contract of carriage.

Transport law in the EU is an important topic, which - probably due to its complicated character - lacks adequate attention, even though importance of this subject is evident when juxtaposed with EU freedoms of movement of people and goods across borders. EUTransLaw is aimed at fulfilling this gap. The objective of the EUTransLaw is to provide students (both local and international), as well as wider audience, with knowledge on the body of law that forms EU transport law and, most importantly, equip them with tools allowing for the future development of their expertise.

Six activities are included in the EUTransLaw: Transport Law in the EU – a specialized teaching programme (70 students/year); Course materials (selected legal acts, CJEU judgements, mandatory readings, case studies, presentations) in e-format available on EUTransLaw website; Didactic internship to be effected by the Course Leader; Guest lectures by local or foreign experts; Monograph, published as an open access e-book and Conference (50 participants).

The EU funding will allow to sponsor the didactic internship, guest lectures, conference and expenses related with publishing of the monograph.
